About Skydive Phoenix
# Skydive Phoenix – Tandem Skydiving & AFF Training in Maricopa, Arizona
Located just 12 miles south of downtown Phoenix at Hidden Valley Airport, Skydive Phoenix offers year-round skydiving operations seven days a week in Arizona's Mountain Region. This USPA-affiliated dropzone operates a PAC 750 XL aircraft and welcomes jumpers of all skill levels, from first-time tandem skydivers to experienced licensed pilots pursuing advanced certifications.
Skydive Phoenix specializes in tandem student training and multiple progressive instruction disciplines, making it a primary choice for both recreational first-time jumpers and aspiring skydivers entering the sport through structured programs. The facility's dedicated focus on education extends to offering Accelerated Freefall (AFF) and Accelerated Skydiving Program (ASP) coursework taught year-round on flexible schedules, allowing students to advance through seven progressive levels at their own pace.
For first-time visitors, tandem skydives deliver the safest, easiest introduction to freefall. Tandem students are paired with certified instructors who handle all technical work, freeing jumpers to focus purely on the experience. The facility offers multiple tandem packages suited to different budgets and preferences, with pricing that varies by altitude and aircraft altitude capability.
Experienced skydivers and licensed jumpers find a welcoming community at Skydive Phoenix's private airport dropzone. The facility maintains a friendly atmosphere with an emphasis on safety, fun, and skill development. Amenities supporting the jumping community include a bunkhouse with beds, designated camping areas, equipment rental and sales, packing services, rigging services, RV spaces with electricity, shower facilities, team rooms, videography services, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Ground school is comprehensive. New AFF and ASP students receive 6–8 hours of classroom instruction covering aircraft procedures, exit techniques, freefall body position, parachute deployment and emergency protocols, landing procedures, and dropzone navigation. Prior to each subsequent jump, jumpers receive a 30–60 minute briefing to reinforce safety and progression milestones.
All students receive worldwide USPA certification upon graduation, qualifying them to jump independently and pursue licenses at any USPA-affiliated dropzone globally. The combination of professional instruction, full-service facilities, flexible training schedules, and a community-oriented culture makes Skydive Phoenix a comprehensive base for both recreational tandem experiences and serious skydiving education in the Phoenix area.
