About Skydive Iowa

# Skydive Iowa – Brooklyn, Iowa Skydiving Drop Zone

Skydive Iowa is Iowa's only skydiver-owned and operated dropzone, located at Skydive Iowa Airport in Brooklyn, Iowa, approximately 70 miles east of Des Moines and 4 miles from the nearest hotel. This distinction as the state's sole skydiver-owned facility underscores a commitment to the sport itself rather than purely commercial interests. Founded in 1991 by Kacie Boyd, an avid skydiver, the dropzone was created with a clear mission: to build a facility that genuinely meets and exceeds the needs and expectations of modern skydivers.

The dropzone operates seasonally from April through October and welcomes both tandem skydivers seeking their first jump and experienced jumpers looking for a home drop zone. Skydive Iowa accommodates everything from single tandem skydives to large corporate outings and business celebrations, with groups of six or more receiving reduced rates of $280 per person. The facility is conveniently situated between Interstate 80 and positioned between Des Moines and Iowa City, making it accessible to jumpers across central Iowa.

For first-time skydivers, Skydive Iowa offers tandem experiences starting at $300 for a jump from 14,000 feet, with higher-altitude options available at 18,000 feet for $450. The dropzone also provides multiple video packages to capture the experience, ranging from $140 to $160 per person, with all video delivered via cloud-based systems. Those seeking formal skydiving training can enroll in the dropzone's accelerated freefall (AFF) course or tandem training programs, both USPA-certified and led by experienced instructors.

Infrastructure and amenities support both casual visitors and serious skydivers. The facility includes a bunkhouse with beds, a designated camping area, equipment rental and sales, packing services, rigging services, RV spaces with electricity, shower facilities, team rooms, and videography services. Wi-Fi is available throughout the dropzone, and the facility can be customized to accommodate special events and celebrations.

Skydive Iowa operates a 1 Cessna 182 aircraft for jumps. The dropzone's tagline—"Skydive Iowa, Made by Skydivers, for Skydivers"—reflects its philosophy of prioritizing the skydiving community's needs and fostering an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere regardless of experience level. Visitors can call ahead for weekday jumping availability.
